Abstract: The generation of electric power in Brazil and its potential sources were analyzed using fuzzy cognitive maps, an artificial intelligence technique. The focus was to evaluate the viability of these sources based on cost-benefit, environmental impact, and availability. Renewable sources, such as hydroelectricity and solar, stood out in terms of cost-benefit and environmental impact, but face availability challenges in certain regions. The approach used provides an integrated view, useful for decisions regarding the energy transition in the country, paving the way for future research in this field.
