MANEJO DE EMBALAGENS DE AGROTÓXICOS EM PROPRIEDADE RURAIS E OS RISCOS À SAÚDE E AO MEIO AMBIENTE
O uso de agrotóxicos tem aumentado sistematicamente e com ele a geração de embalagens. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar o volume de embalagens de agrotóxicos geradas e verificar como essas vem sendo manipuladas por agricultores em propriedades rurais do município de Vacaria – RS, inferindo possíveis consequências desse manejo para o ambiente e para a saúde ambiental. Trata-se de um estudo de campo, com coleta de dados realizada junto as casas comerciais que comercializam agrotóxicos e por entrevistas diretas com 104 agricultores. Os resultados mostram uma geração considerável e crescente de embalagens e inadequações no manejo das mesmas e, por consequência, elevados riscos à saúde a ao meio ambiente. Reverter esse processo depende de políticas de suporte ao agricultor e de educação ambiental permanente.

Abstract:
The use of pesticides has systematically increased and with it the generation of packaging. This paper aims to identify the volume of pesticide packages generated and to verify how they are being managed by farmers in rural properties of Vacaria - RS, inferring possible consequences of this management for the environment and for environmental health. This is a field study, with data collected from commercial houses that sell pesticides and through direct interviews with 104 farmers. The results show a considerable and growing generation of packaging and inadequate management and, consequently, high risks to health and the environment. Reversing this process depends on farmer support policies and on going environmental education.
