• Abstract:

  Endowed with identity, space configures itself as a place of life, memory and identity. All this leaves marks on the space, guaranteeing its appropriation through bonds of belonging and affection. The historic center of Porangatu is a place where local residents live daily with memories built in space or reaffirmed in memory. Everyday life loaded with practical and symbolic actions is interspersed with parties, which are transgressions and at the same time dramatizations of daily life. This study aims to understand how cultural manifestations are spatialized in the Historic Center of Porangatu-GO, in order to understand how festivals and memories are responsible for the process of building the identity of the community that occupies this place. The search for information took place through bibliographical, documental and field research. The field study used collection instruments such as semi-structured questionnaires and interview scripts. The parties in the historic center of Porangatu are important ways of bringing together the memories and traditions of the city, as well as the community that occupies its surroundings.
