Lugar da identidade em Mulan: feminino ou masculino?
Universos completamente distintos,
homens e mulheres, compartilham algo em
comum: são componentes da sociedade.
Fazendo parte do social ao longo do tempo, na
sociedade ocidental, o feminino e o masculino
tiveram papéis atribuídos, ou seja, tanto homem
como a mulher tinham bem definidos o que
deveriam fazer, como deveriam agir e viver e
em que lugar deveriam estar levando a uma
construção identitária para ambos. No século
XX houve a desconstrução desses papéis,
outrora cristalizados no Ocidente. Finda-se essa
perspectiva de que a mulher ou o homem são
de determinada maneira e que devem tomar
para si essa identidade construída ao longo
do tempo. Com as transformações ocorridas
principalmente a partir dos movimentos sociais
dos anos 1960, possibilitou-se o questionamento
destes aspectos em diversos setores da
sociedade como, por exemplo, o cinema. O
objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a construção
da identidade da personagem Mulan a partir
da animação de mesmo nome. A metodologia
constou de pesquisa bibliográfica e análise
documental. Os resultados indicaram que os
papéis aparentemente definidos pela sociedade
provocam inicialmente uma crise de identidade
na protagonista, que não se reconhece sem
saber a qual lugar pertence e no decorrer da
narrativa, por questões sentimentais, assume
uma identidade masculina na qual se sobressai
dentro de um contexto dominado por homens.
A animação questiona os papeis femininos
e masculinos estabelecidos socialmente e a
identidade atrelada a estes, fugindo da regra
social comum vigente, levando em conta o
contexto sócio-histórico no qual o filme foi
produzido.

Abstract:
Completely different universes,
men and women, share something in common:
they are components of society. Being part of
the social over time, in the western society, the
feminine and masculine had roles attributed to
themselves, that is, both men and women had
well defined what they should do, how they
should act and live and where they should be,

leading to an identity construction for the masculine and the feminine. In the twentieth
century there was the deconstruction of these roles, once crystallized in the West. It is
the end of this perspective that the woman or the man are in a certain way and that they
must take for themselves this identity built up over time. With the transformations that
occurred mainly from the social movements of the 1960s, it was possible to question
these aspects in various sectors of society, such as the cinema. The objective of this
work was to analyze the construction of the identity of the character Mulan from the
animation of the same name. The methodology consisted of bibliographical research
and documentary analysis. The results indicated that the roles apparently defined by
society initially provoke an identity crisis in the protagonist, which do not recognize
herself, without knowing which place she belongs and throughout the narrative, for
sentimental reasons, assumes a masculine identity in which it stands out within a
context dominated by men. The animation questions the socially established roles
as feminine and masculine, as well as the identity tied to them, avoiding the current
common social rule, taking into account the socio-historical context in which the film
was produced.
