LOS SERVICIOS CLIMÁTICOS CONSTRUYENDO RESILIENCIA A LA VARIABILIDAD DEL CLIMA EN MATANZAS
En la provincia de Matanzas confluyen un grupo de elementos físico-geográficos, como la presencia de humedales, las cuencas subterráneas, el mayor polo turístico de Sol y Playa cubano, la explotación petrolera, el principal corredor de aves migratorias de Caribe insular, que establece importantes rutas de conectividad entre áreas protegidas y unidades de producción, donde se desarrollan prácticas productivas en el sector agropecuario y que incluyen esfuerzos de reforestación que potencian el aumento de superficie cubierta con especies nativas. Dada la inminencia de la vulnerabilidad climática multisectorial, luego de más de 10 años de estudios sobre el tema, y el diseño de escenarios climáticos futuros locales, el presente trabajo persigue proponer servicios climáticos de nuevo tipo, con la visión del Marco Mundial para los Servicios Climáticos como herramientas para la adaptación al cambio climático; para ello se realizó un diagnóstico de las actividades económicas fundamentales de la provincia, determinándose cómo les influye el clima y viceversa, se emplearon los 50 años de la base de datos de las siete estaciones meteorológicas a disposición con análisis estadísticos. El acompañamiento de nuestros especialistas para asesorar a los distintos sectores en el diseño de sus estrategias ambientales para la adaptación al actual clima cambiante, permitirá reducir la vulnerabilidad del territorio matancero con la implementación de acciones sustentadas en resultados de la ciencia y la innovación tecnológica, alcanzados por el Centro Meteorológico Provincial de Matanzas, y devenidos en servicios científico técnicos, dirigidos a incrementar la capacidad de resiliencia de la naturaleza, la economía y la sociedad, ante los impactos del clima cambiante, lo que contribuye a fortalecer la adaptación a éste y su enfrentamiento certero.

Abstract:
In the province of Matanzas, a group of physical-geographical elements converge, such as the presence of wetlands, underground basins, the largest tourist pole of Cuban Sun and Beach, oil exploitation, the main migratory bird corridor of the insular Caribbean, which establishes important connectivity routes between protected areas and production units, where productive practices are developed in the agricultural sector and that include reforestation efforts that enhance the increase in area covered with native species. Given the imminence of multisectoral climate vulnerability, after more than 12 years of studies on the subject, and the design of future local climate scenarios, the present work seeks to propose climate services of a new type, with the vision of the Global Framework for Climate Services as tools for adaptation to climate change; for this, a diagnosis of the fundamental economic activities of the province was made, determining how the climate influences them and vice versa, the 50 years of the database of the seven meteorological stations available with statistical analysis were used. The accompaniment of our specialists to advise the different sectors in the design of their environmental strategies for adaptation to the current changing climate, will reduce the vulnerability of the Matanzas territory with the implementation of actions based on results of science and technological innovation, achieved by the Provincial Meteorological Center of Matanzas, and converted into scientific and technical services, aimed at increasing the resilience of nature, the economy and society, in the face of the impacts of the changing climate, which contributes to strengthening adaptation to it and its accurate confrontation.
