Abstract: Science education in engineering is currently undergoing a process of change and development around the world. This is partly due the society´s urgent demands for future engineers to become increasingly innovative and entrepreneurial. It is now widely recognized that creativity and imagination are skills that can be developed if they are properly worked on. Thus, the essential task of the teacher must focus primarily on preparing students to be creative and imaginative. The Physics 1 course of the Faculty of Engineering of the UNMDP has been working on a process of didactic innovation to improve the quality of teaching and learning. With the purpose of facilitating the construction and development of professional competences during the students' training process. This paper presents the methodology and the implementation instances of an evaluative activity based on a Memes Contest (images intervened with text), to explain or comment on a topic or physical content of Classical Mechanics. The proposal is designed in such a way that students must use skills and abilities related to teamwork and creative thinking to solve it. With the implementation of the activity, students are not only expected to acquire new knowledge, but also to enhance certain skills and ways of approaching professional tasks
