Abstract: The aim of this research was to analyze the influence of academic literacy on didactic strategies for higher education. The methodology applied was qualitative, using a phenomenological- empirical design with a descriptive-analytical level of depth. The study was conducted by applying a survey to a sample consisting of teachers in the field of Language and Literature at both public and private universities in Ecuador, as well as students in their 5th and 7th semesters during the 2020-2021 academic year at the Central University of Ecuador. The results showed that both teachers and students identified the essay and oral expression as didactic strategies because they reflect critical reading as a tool to reach the profound meaning of the text within its context. Academic literacy feeds back on what is read in economic, social, and ideological environments, leading to the production of new knowledge that will later be disseminated.
