Abstract: For organizational leaders, a major challenge is to maintain team competitiveness and commitment, since the sustainability of commitment is related to the perception that the organization adds value to its employees. The objective of this study was to analyze and understand the commitment of multidisciplinary teams, with different experiences, expectations, generations and backgrounds, so that the leader could understand the most relevant variables from the employee's perspective and, thus, review actions or behaviors to build more agile and effective teams in meeting organizational guidelines in a consistent manner. The methodology used was a case study in a company in the civil engineering and construction technology sector, with over 70 years of experience in the market, located in the state of São Paulo. Twenty-six employees from two multidisciplinary teams with different leaders were interviewed and answered questionnaires about the types of commitment: affective, instrumental and normative. The results showed that the three dimensions of commitment are interrelated, but affective commitment stood out, while normative and instrumental commitments were perceived as equivalent by the interviewees. It was concluded that the topic is complex: leadership style, work experience and employee maturity influence organizational commitment. This commitment does not depend solely on the benefits offered, but on the employee's affective and normative perception of the company, in addition to assertive communication, the leader's attention and the appreciation of each team member, always aligned with organizational guidelines.
