LÉXICO TOPONÍMICO DO CENTRO DE ARAÇUAÍ-MG: RESGATE DA IDENTIDADE HISTÓRICA E SOCIOCULTURAL
O léxico de uma língua espelha e ajuda a construir o contexto histórico, econômico e sociocultural de uma comunidade em diferentes épocas e espaços. Assim, pretendeu com o referido trabalho analisar a escolha dos topônimos do centro de Araçuaí, município localizado no Vale do Jequitinhonha, e sua ligação com os aspectos econômicos, históricos e socioculturais da cidade. A coleta dos dados se deu através de consulta a documentos cartográficos e conversa com pessoas nascidas e residentes em Araçuaí. Os dados coletados foram registrados através de banco informatizado, acompanhados de informações extra-linguísticas pertinentes à análise. Alusivo à teoria, elegeu-se como bibliografia básica a ciência da Lexicologia, especificamente a toponímia. Quanto à Semântica, foi considerada com enfoque no processo de constituição do léxico das línguas naturais, e, para justificar o trabalho, que tem o léxico como fonte de resgate de identidade, foram tomadas as vozes de autoridades no assunto, como Isquerdo e Oliveira e outros que discutem léxico, cultura e identidade. O trabalho, ainda em fase de conclusão, já revela a preferência por antropotopônimos, especificamente os nomes masculinos de pessoas que têm alguma representatividade para a cidade. Ademais, observou-se que muitos topônimos originais foram trocados por apelidos, mais significativos para os moradores, ratificando o defendido por vários autores de que o léxico revela aspectos históricos, econômicos e socioculturais de uma comunidade.

Abstract:
A language’s thesaurus mirrors and helps the building of historical, economic and socio-cultural context concerning to a community along different times and spaces. Thus, we aim in this work to analyze the choice of toponyms in the center of Araçuaí, a municipality located in the Jequitinhonha Valley, and its connection with the economic, historical and socio-cultural aspects of the city. Data collection took place through consulting cartographic documents and talking to people born and inhabiting in Araçuaí. The collected data has been registered through a computerized database, along with extra-linguistic information relevant to the analysis. Concerning theoretical aspects, the science of Lexicology built the basic bibliography, specifically about toponymy. Regarding to Semantics, we have focused on the process of constituting natural languages thesaurus, and, to justify the research, which has the said lexicon as a source of identity recovery, we have quoted and called upon the voices of renowned researchers on the subject, such as Isquerdo, Oliveira and others, that discuss lexicon, culture and identity. This research, yet to be concluded, already reveals the preference for anthropotoponyms, specifically the male names of people who have some representation for the city. In addition, it has been observed that many original toponyms were exchanged for nicknames, more meaningful for the residents, confirming what is defended by several authors, which state that the thesaurus reveals historical, economic and socio-cultural aspects within a community.
