Este artigo objetiva apresentar

a análise realizada sobre as ocorrências,

atenuações ou apagamento do léxico tabu

nas traduções para a língua inglesa de trechos

de La Casa de Papel, obra originalmente

produzida em língua espanhola. Pretendese

discutir a influência do atravessamento de

fatores extralinguísticos no processo tradutório,

partindo do pressuposto de que, muitas vezes,

a tradução do léxico tabu é atravessada por

um tipo de coerção social, atrelada a restrições

extralinguísticas e ideológicas. Investiga-se o

modo como a prática da legendagem, dentro da

tradução audiovisual, também é um ponto que

motiva certas escolhas tradutórias. Pretendese,

ainda, mostrar como essas restrições estão,

muitas vezes, fundamentadas no preconceito

linguístico e como essas concepções contribuem

para a perpetuação de estereótipos.

Abstract:
This article aims to present the

analysis of the occurrences, attenuations or

deletion of the taboo lexicon in the translations

to English of excerpts from the series La Casa

de Papel, originally produced in Spanish. It

is intended to discuss the influence of the

crossing of extralinguistic factors in the process,

based on the assumption that, frequently, the

translation of taboo lexicon is crossed by a

type of social coercion, related to extralinguistic

and ideological restrictions. It is explored how

the subtitling practice, into the audiovisual

translation, can be an element which affects

certain translation choices. This study also

shows how these restrictions are connected to

linguistic prejudice and how they contribute to

the perpetuation of stereotypes.
