Abstract: Aerial photogrammetric surveying by Remotely Piloted Aircraft - RPA has been contributing significantly to current topographic surveys. Understanding the steps that lead to a quality survey is of great value for professionals who intend to specialize in this field of knowledge. With the growing demand for this work, the search for quality in a reliable aerial photogrammetric survey has been a challenge in several studies and experiments on the subject. Correlating traditional methods with new technologies is part of a structural change that has been occurring in the way topographic data is produced. The bibliographical review on the subject allowed for an analysis and discussion of the methodologies used in academic studies, in particular those obtained by aerial surveys that seek the mathematical representation of the terrain through photogrammetry, as well as the discussion about the one most suitable for a given project.
