Abstract: Caves are known for their environmental stability in relation to outside changes. Consequently, cavities facilitate studies since its area is physically delimited by the projection of the conduits, allowing a complete sampling. The main objective of this study was to survey and compare the arthropods macrofauna of two caves in Pains, MG. The field works took place in four collections using active search with species plotting, which covered the dry and rainy periods. The study happened in two cavities, Gruta da Divisa and Coqueiro II, located inside Mineração Saldanha LTDA. Totally, 399 specimens of 11 different orders were recorded, which 193 individuals were collected in Gruta da Divisa and 206 in Coqueiro II. The most collected orders were Diptera with 143 specimens and Araneae with 140 individuals. The cavities had a total richness of 39 species, Shannon Index of 2.89, Simpson Index of 0.91 and Equitability of 1.82. When the caves were compared by rarefied analyzes of Shannon index, the Insecta fauna present differences, but no one was checked in Arachnida. Besides, a troglophilous myriapod was collected and a specimen of Mantispidae is the first record of the family in the region. Based on the results obtained, the cavities studied showed a high level of diversity. In addition, this study contributed to document the arthropod fauna in the region and works as reference for future studies.
