LEISHMANIOSE TEGUMENTAR AMERICANA: A TRAJETÓRIA DO TRATAMENTO CONTADA POR QUEM A VIVENCIA
O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever a trajetória de tratamento vivenciada pelo paciente com Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana. Pesquisa qualitativa que utilizou a técnica relato de vida. Participaram sete indivíduos adultos que fizeram tratamento para Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana, em um município de fronteira do Sul do Brasil. A coleta dos dados ocorreu no domicílio do participante mediante entrevista semiestruturada. Os dados foram organizados e confrontados com a literatura científica. Fatores sociais, ambientais, educacionais e comportamentais estão relacionados com a ocorrência desta patologia, percebeu-se que o conhecimento prévio dos participantes e profissionais da saúde, bem como orientações profissionais foram deficitárias. Apesar da adesão dos participantes ao tratamento, houve falhas no acompanhamento clínico e nos cuidados póstratamento. São necessários investimentos na formação inicial dos profissionais de saúde e na Educação Permanente para o atendimento adequado da Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to describe the trajectory of treatment experienced by the patient with American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis. Qualitative research that used the life story technique. Participants were seven adult individuals who were treated for American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in a border municipality of Southern Brazil. The data was collected at the participant’s home through a semistructured interview. The data were organized and compared with the scientific literature. Social, environmental, educational and behavioral factors are related to the occurrence of this pathology, it was noticed that previous knowledge of the participants and health professionals, as well as professional orientations were deficient. Despite the participants’ adherence to treatment, there were shortcomings in clinical followup and post-treatment care. Investments are needed in the initial training of health professionals and in Permanent Education for the adequate care of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis.
