Abstract: From the intersection between cultures and identities, a historical approach to the carnival phenomenon and the more specific process of representative competition are central objects of this dissertation. With a temporal delimitation in the Present Time (2014-2024) and taking Salvador as the axis, analyzing the figures of the Salvador Carnival queens as cultural and social representations is the main objective. The methodological approach is based on black and intersectional feminist theories, with qualitative procedures and based on documentary collections (printed and audiovisual). The research highlights the relationships between gender, race and class, investigating how these contests dialogue with beauty standards, Bahianity and identity mixes. Primary sources and historiography are resources for the construction of the intersection bias, configuring the path for the use of different methodologies, creating interfaces between feminist and historical-cultural studies. As details of the methodological processes, data collection and analysis of documentary collections (official and institutional, as well as media) stand out. As results, we have steps such as contemporary bibliographic review based on the selected axes, in addition to the construction of visual narratives using visual documents (photographs) and textual documents (media, official website, etc.). They highlight the historical silencing of these female figures and propose the redefinition of their roles in the collective imagination, observing oppressions, identities and expressions beyond aesthetics.
