Você sabe qual é o mais perigoso dos animais? Se você pensa que são cobras, tubarões e leões, você está errado. O animal responsável pelo maior número de mortes humanas é pequeno, pode voar e muitas vezes a gente não vê: são os mosquitos! Eles podem transmitir doenças devastadoras e muitas delas iremos apresentar e discutir neste artigo. Mas nem todos os mosquitos transmitem doenças, pois muitos deles se alimentam de plantas, fazendo parte do nosso ecossistema, interagindo positiva ou negativamente na grande cadeia alimentar. A preocupação com os mosquitos e sua alta taxa de transmissão de doenças mortais se deve principalmente à falta de vacinas e medicamentos que podem tratar os efeitos das doenças. Assim, podemos utilizar como prevenção diversas medidas de controle de mosquitos e investir em ciência para o desenvolvimento de vacinas que possam minimizar os efeitos das doenças transmitidas.

Abstract:
Do you know what is the most dangerous of animals? If you think it is snakes, sharks, and lions, you are wrong. The animal responsible for the largest number of human deaths is small, can fly and we often do not see it: it is mosquitoes! They can transmit devastating diseases and many of them we will present and discuss in this article. But not all mosquitoes transmit diseases, as many of them feed on plants, being part of our ecosystem, interacting positively or negatively in the large food chain. The concern about mosquitoes and their high rate of transmission of deadly illness is mainly due to the lack of vaccines and medicines that can treat the effects of the diseases. Thus, we can use as prevention several measures to control mosquitoes and invest in science for the development of vaccines that could minimize the effects of transmitted diseases.
