Abstract: Understanding the thermal performance of vertical gardens of different typologies is essential for their use as a bioclimatic strategy. The thermal performance of vertical gardens can be assessed through field studies or computational simulations. However, simulation studies require parameters collected from experimental studies. Many researches in this area rely on experimentation, highlighting the need for a better understanding of simulation studies. In this context, this work surveyed journal articles and dissertations in the Scopus, Web of Science™, and Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations databases regarding the thermal performance of vertical gardens using simulation methods, with the objective of identifying the evaluated parameters and software used. The results show that, similar to experimental studies, the main evaluated parameters were the air temperature in the indoor environment under the influence of the garden, compared to the control environment, the external and internal surface temperature of the wall, and the wind speed near the garden. As for software, the most commonly used were EnergyPlus and DesignBuilder.
