JARDIM CEARÁ: O PADRE MIGUEL COELHO DE SÁ BARRETO E A FESTA SOCIORRELIGIOSA DA VIRADA DO SÉCULO XIX PARA O SÉCULO XX
A cidade de Jardim localiza-se na microrregião do Cariri, interior cearense. O seu povoamento teve início no final do século XVIII. A vila que deu origem à cidade foi criada pelo Alvará Régio de 30 de agosto de 1814 e inaugurada em 3 de janeiro de 1816. 63 anos depois, a Lei Provincial de 8 de setembro de 1879, deu àquela vila o status de cidade. No decorrer de sua história, Jardim vivenciou acontecimentos de diversas natureza, os quais permanecem ainda vivos na memória de sua população, sendo muitos deles repassados de geração em geração através da oralidade. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a participação da Igreja Católica na pessoa da padre Miguel Coelho de Sá Barreto, na festa sociorreligiosa que marcou a passagem do século XIX para o XX. Para elaboração do presente trabalho utilizamo-nos da seguinte metodologia: uma pesquisa bibliográfica junto às poucas fontes escritas – artigos, jornais, trabalhos acadêmicos – que relatam acontecimentos em análise e documentos com anotações de histórias orais narradas por pessoas idosas pertencentes à população jardinense.

Abstract:
The city of Jardim is located in the Cariri microregion, in the interior of Ceará. Its settlement began at the end of the 18th century. The town that gave rise to the city was created by the Alvará Régio on august 30, 1814 and inaugurated on january 3, 1816. 63 years later, the Provincial Law of september 8, 1879, gave that town the status of city. Throughout its history, Jardim experienced events of various kinds, which remain still alive in the memory of its population, many of which were passed on from generation to generation through orality. The purpose of this article is to analyze the participation of the Catholic Church in the person of Father Miguel Coelho de Sá Barreto, in the socio-religious celebration that marked the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. To elaborate the present work, we used the following methodology: a bibliographic research together with the few written sources - articles, newspapers, academic works - that report events in analysis and documents with notes of oral histories narrated by elderly people belonging to the jardinense population.
