Abstract: The present article, aims to analyze Jane Eyre, a novel written by Charlotte Brontë from the perspective of Reception Aesthetics, highlighting how different historical and cultural contexts influence the reading and interpretation of the text. The study is grounded in the theoretical framework of Araújo, Figueiredo e Lago (2023), Araújo (2024), Jauss (1999), and Iser (1999), whose contributions allow us to understand the active role of the reader in the construction of literary meaning. The methodology adopted is qualitative, bibliographic, and interpretative, involving critical analysis of the novel and a review of specialized literature. This exploratory research seeks to reflect on pedagogical practices that employ Jane Eyre as a didactic resource in the classroom, fostering dialogue between classical literature and contemporary reading formation. The results point to the relevance of Reception Aesthetics as a mediating tool, capable of bringing students closer to canonical works by valuing both the aesthetic experience and the historicity of reading.
