• Abstract: This article presents a study of a real case of building a reinforced concrete bridge. It focuses on the construction of the Antônio Mariano de Brito bridge, which is a prestressed (girders) structure over the Pajeú river in the city of Afogados da Ingazeira - PE. The bridge aimed to connect the neighborhoods of São Francisco and São Cristóvão in that city. The bridge has a span of 99.70 m in length and 7 m in width. Before the construction of this bridge, the connection between the two neighborhoods was made with a distance of about 4 km, even going around the city center. This fulfills a dream of over 20 years for the residents of both neighborhoods. The initial cost of the project was R$ 3,875,126.82 (three million, eight hundred and seventy-five thousand, one hundred and twenty-six reais and eighty-two cents), but after the second budget amendment, it increased to R$ 4,275,805.89 (four million, two hundred and seventy-five thousand, eight hundred and five reais and eightynine cents), an increase in relation to the initial cost of 10.34%.
