Abstract: The immediate puerperium is marked by several physiological changes for the puerperal woman and during this period, some resources can help this target audience, thus becoming important during the physiotherapist's performance. There is a growing need for the inclusion of physiotherapists in maternity hospitals in order to prevent, recognize and treat complications, acting in the treatment of possible complications. Objective: The present study aims to seek evidence in the literature that shows physical therapy intervention as a focus on immediate postpartum recovery. Method: Descriptive study of the integrative literature review type. The databases are: Physiotherapy Evidence (PEDro); Virtual Health Library (BVS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), PubMed. With criteria for inclusion of pre-selected articles, scientific articles, available in full, published from 2017 to 2022, in Portuguese and English, with qualitative research studies and literature review and experimental articles. Exclusion criteria were repeated articles published in the years prior to 2017. Results: After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the study sample consisted of 13 articles, filtered, where these studies address physiotherapy interventions in the immediate puerperium with focus on non-pharmacological treatments with a focus on pain control, strengthening exercises and non-invasive procedures, and beneficial for the puerperal woman. Conclusion: Physical therapy shows several non-pharmacological therapeutic approaches for the recovery of health and quality of life during the immediate puerperal period. Thus, showing that these professionals are indispensable in the hospital environment and in women's health.
