Abstract: Medications are the main sources of variation in laboratory test results, and their use cannot always be interrupted to perform these tests. Some drugs can lead to false negative or false positive results, having access to this information is very important for the laboratory routine, as well as for the medical clinic and pharmaceutical assistance, as it can generate changes in the clinical and laboratory diagnosis and interfere with monitoring and assessment of the patient's prognosis Drug interference is responsible for generating several analytical errors involving biochemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological laboratory tests and urological analysis. Biochemistry tests are the ones that suffer the most changes in results due to these interferences. We explore the main drug classes that can impact these tests, analyzing the extent of the influences and their clinical implications. The methodology involved bibliographic review and case analysis, highlighting the importance of efficient communication between health professionals. The results emphasize the need to carefully consider medication prescription when interpreting laboratory results to ensure accurate and safe diagnoses. During the study, we identified concrete examples of how certain medications can distort laboratory parameters, leading to misinterpretations and potentially resulting in inappropriate clinical decisions. We also highlight the importance of an integrated approach between healthcare professionals, emphasizing the need to share information about medication prescription to optimize diagnostic accuracy. Additionally, we explored possible strategies to minimize these interferences, including regular review of the patient's medication list and effective communication between doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians.
