Abstract: During hospitalization, to stabilize or maintain the patient's clinical parameters, volume infusion may be necessary, which can be performed using different devices, among which the Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) stands out. Nursing plays a primary role in intravenous therapy, especially insertion and care of this device. Therefore, the objective of this study is to report the experience of nurses in inserting a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter guided by ultrasound in adult and elderly patients. This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, drawn from the experience of nurses linked to a teaching hospital in southern Brazil. The insertion of the Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter by professional nurses increases their representativeness and expands their practice scenarios. Assertiveness with the use of ultrasound provides benefits to the patient and eliminates the need for repetitive punctures, providing safety and effectiveness in the proposed treatment.
