Abstract: Nanotechnology focuses on the manipulation of materials and structures at nanometric scales, which can be useful tools for developing and improving medicines and diagnostics in the oncological field, reducing adverse effects, enhancing therapy and improving diagnoses. This study is a bibliographical review on innovations in oncology through nanotechnology. For this purpose, we gathered 43 articles to compose this work, published in the last 10 years. Cancer is a very common disease, and the chances of a cure are still closely related to early treatment, which even presents several unwanted effects due to the therapy. This pathology is defined as the exacerbated and uncontrolled proliferation of cells in any region of the body, generating thousands of defective cells that cluster together to form tumors and have migratory capacity (metastasis). Diagnosis is made through laboratory tests, imaging tests and tissue biopsies. The sooner the disease is diagnosed, the greater the chance of a cure. Various alternatives using nanotechnology are being explored in studies with liposomes, nanobubbles, dendrimers, carbon nanotubes, inorganic nanoparticles, etc. to create the concept of drug delivery (Drug Delivery) being more selective for tumors and reducing adverse effects. It was possible to verify that nanotechnology is a promising area in the treatment and diagnosis of Cancer, as it has greater selectivity for tumor cells from nanomaterials, in addition to improving aspects of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of usual chemotherapy drugs.
