INICIANDO A VIDA ACADÊMICA POR MEIO DO ESTUDO DAS SECÇÕES CÔNICAS E SUAS APLICAÇÕES NA ENGENHARIA CIVIL
Ao iniciar a vida acadêmica em algum curso de engenharia é possível se deparar como uma das cadeiras primárias a de Geometria Analítica e é nesta disciplina tão importante que temos os primeiros contatos com as cônicas. Estas por sua vez serão de suma importância, não somente na engenharia civil, mas como nas demais engenharias (civil, elétrica, mecânica etc.). Secções cônicas, quase sempre referenciadas simplesmente por cônicas são resultantes de um acréscimo de um plano a um duplo cone. Estas cônicas são bastante populares no nosso cotidiano. Estas mesmas estão presentes em muitas maravilhas produzidas pelo homem ao longo da história da construção civil. Na antiguidade essas curvas, ainda pouco estudadas, não tinham o valor que atribuímos hoje. Porém com o desenvolvimento de diversas áreas do saber, tais como física, arquitetura e computação, houve um maior crescimento em diversas aplicações, das quais podemos citar o avanço na indústria automobilística, de telecomunicações, cálculo estrutural, projetos de pesquisas e explorações espaciais. Embasados por essa importância do estudo das cônicas esta atividade foi proposta pelo professor da disciplina e em forma de seminário e texto de pesquisa, foi apresentado aos demais alunos da turma.

Abstract:
When starting the academic life in some engineering course it is possible to come across as one of the primary chairs of Analytical Geometry and it is in this discipline so important that we have the first contacts with the conics. These in turn will be of paramount importance, not only in civil engineering, but also in other engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical, etc.). Conical sections, almost always referenced simply by conics, are the result of an addition of a plane-to a double cone. These conics are quite popular in our daily lives. These are present in many wonders produced by man throughout the history of construction. In antiquity these curves, still little studied, did not have the value that we attribute today. However, with the development of several areas of knowledge, such as physics, architecture and computing, there was a greater growth in several applications, among which we can mention the advance in the automobile industry, telecommunications, structural calculation, research projects and space explorations. Based on this importance of the study of conics, this activity was proposed by the teacher of the discipline and in the form of a seminar and research text, was presented to the other students in the class.
