This learning experience is part of a Master's thesis in Teaching, with the purpose of implementing strategies to strengthen knowledge of Ecology, along with proposals for Environmental Education, as well as the development of skills, values and attitudes with an impact outside the classroom, in their lives and daily activities. The activity consisted of preparing a report on household consumption and the analysis of the ecological footprint of 13 students in their sixth semester -17 to 18 years old- of a Telebachillerato in Veracruz, Mexico, who previously identified the main environmental problems in their environment. The students live in a rural community in the Los Tuxtlas region, important for its biodiversity, so the link between human activities and environmental deterioration is particularly relevant for its conservation. Field records and observation guides were used to detect signs of environmental deterioration and contamination; an ecological footprint calculator, logbook and photographic record were used to quantify and classify household waste. Contamination of water bodies was identified as the main local problem; the main wastes reported were food waste and plastic containers; although it was considered that the individual ecological footprint does not represent a great impact, the students made suggestions to reduce the amount of waste produced, as well as the consumption of processed products and the separation of waste at home.

Abstract:
This learning experience is part of a Master's thesis in Teaching, with the purpose of implementing strategies to strengthen knowledge of Ecology, along with proposals for Environmental Education, as well as the development of skills, values and attitudes with an impact outside the classroom, in their lives and daily activities. The students live in a rural community in the Los Tuxtlas region, important for its biodiversity, so the link between human activities and environmental deterioration is particularly relevant for its conservation.
