INFLUÊNCIAS DA ACREDITAÇÃO INTERNACIONAL NO ENFRENTAMENTO DA COVID-19 EM UM HOSPITAL PRIVADO DE BELO HORIZONTE: RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA
A acreditação hospitalar é um processo voluntário que pode trazer significativos benefícios para as organizações que são acreditadas. Há acreditações nacionais e internacionais que auxiliam na estruturação de processos e na definição das prioridades para os cuidados com os pacientes. No Brasil, as organizações que mais vêm acreditando os serviços de saúde são a Organização Nacional de Acreditação (ONA) e a Joint Commission International (JCI). A metodologia da acreditação internacional JCI é composta por um agrupamento de requisitos com foco na garantia da qualidade e da segurança do paciente, e na oferta de infraestrutura segura, além de estimular a organização a investir em educação para os profissionais que nela atuam. O presente artigo relata a experiência de um hospital privado de grande porte, situado em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, com acreditação internacional JCI, descrevendo a influência dessa metodologia na organização do hospital para o enfrentamento da pandemia da COVID-19. O estudo se justifica pela relevância da temática e incipiência de publicações sobre a mesma. Os principais resultados encontrados se relacionam com a consonância entre os requisitos avaliados pelo hospital, cenário do estudo, e as ações necessárias para o enfrentamento da pandemia. Após a análise dos requisitos e dos planos de contingência da Instituição foi possível observar a influência positiva da acreditação JCI no enfrentamento da Covid-19. Vários capítulos da metodologia de acreditação JCI foram identificados como de expressiva contribuição para o desafio de enfrentar uma pandemia, destacando-se a técnica correta de higienização das mãos, diariamente treinada pelas equipes do Hospital, quando da acreditação. Sugere-se a realização de estudos em outros hospitais acreditados pela JCI, bem como por outras instituições acreditadoras, com vistas a aprofundar o conhecimento sobre influências da acreditação, tanto nacional quanto internacional, no enfrentamento de uma pandemia.

Abstract:
Hospital accreditation is a voluntary process that can bring significant benefits to accredited organizations. There are national and international accreditations that help in structuring processes and defining priorities when taking care of patients. In Brasil, the main organizations that accredit health services are the Organização Nacional de Acreditação (ONA) and the Joint Commission International (JCI). The JCI international accreditation methodology is composed of a grouping of requirements with a focus on patient’s quality and security guarantee, and in the offer of safe infrastructure, other than stimulating the organization in investing in education for the professionals that work there. This article reports the experience of a big private hospital with JCI international accreditation located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, describing the influence of such methodology in the hospital’s organization to face the COVID-19 pandemic. The study is justified by the relevance of the theme and the recent development of publications about it. The main results highlight the conformity between the requirements assessed by the hospital – the scenario under study – and the necessary actions to face the pandemic. After the analysis of the institution requirements and contingency plans, it was possible to observe the positive influence of JCI accreditation in facing COVID-19. Various chapters of JCI accreditation methodology were identified as being contributing for the challenge of facing a pandemic, with particular relevance of the hand-sanitising technique, trained daily by the hospital teams, as per the accreditation. It is suggested to carry out studies in other hospitals accredited by JCI, as well as by other accrediting institutions, with the goal to deepen the knowledge on the influence of accreditation to face a pandemic, at a national and international level.
