Abstract: The cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is an annual plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. It is an important vegetable and one of the most popular in this family. Bokashi organic fertilizer is an organic compound diluted from the anaerobic fermentation of microorganisms added to low-cost bioproducts. The aim of the study was to verify the effects of applying diluted Bokashi on the germination and initial growth of cucumber seedlings. The experiment was divided into two stages, germination and growth, the first of which was carried out in a B.O.D (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) germination chamber at a temperature of 25°C with direct lighting and the second in a greenhouse. Two treatments were used to germinate the cucumber seeds: (i) water (control) and (ii) water + Bokashi. The cucumber seeds were purchased in commercial stores, as was organic Bokashi fertilizer. The results showed that Bokashi did not influence the germination of the seeds, but having applied it during the germination process did influence the number of leaves at 28 days after transplanting, in which it obtained a greater number of leaves, although at the end of the analysis it was the same as the control.
