INDÍGENAS SETECENTISTAS: MÁRTIRES, VILÕES OU MESTRES DOS SERTÕES NAS EXPEDIÇÕES MONÇOEIRAS?
Este texto tem o objetivo de dissertar sobre a participação dos indígenas nas expedições monçoeiras no século XVIII e apresentar algumas de suas contribuições, seus sofrimentos e resistências à invasão de seu território. Essas expedições formaram o movimento migratório também denominado “monções”, uma continuação das várias bandeiras que, no século XVI e XVII, percorreram os territórios ocidentais e atravessaram a região onde se formaria o Estado do Mato Grosso e Mato Grosso do Sul. Este trabalho faz uma reflexão sobre as ações do indígena no longo processo migratório verificado durante a conquista e que alterou a paisagem interna brasileira. Nesse processo histórico as nações indígenas não tiveram uma homogeneidade de ações, reagiram distintamente, de forma pacífica ou agressiva, exerceram o poder ainda que não o possuísse: mesmo na condição de dominados, desenvolveram forças que se chocaram com as estratégias de dominação ou sutilmente se aliaram a essas forças em busca da sobrevivência. O indígena mesmo sendo rotulado na condição de mártir ou vilão não se pode negar suas preciosas contribuições para a conquista do interior da América e do Brasil. Esses aportes sociais e culturais trazidos por diferentes etnias autóctones foram além das meras técnicas de caça, pesca e artimanhas de sobrevivência. O indígena legou aos sertanistas um modo de vida, uma relação muito estreita com a terra selvagem e uma comunhão profunda com esse ambiente. Dessa convivência advém uma gama de invenções e um discernimento do meio que legou aos monçoeiros deduções sobre a sombra das árvores, o voo das aves, as pegadas de um bicho, as condições meteorológicas e outras habilidades que pareciam miraculosas ao homem europeu e foram essenciais para o sucesso das expedições monçoeiras.

Abstract:
This text aims to talk about the participation of indigenous people in the monçoeira expeditions in the 18th century and to present some of their contributions, their sufferings and resistance to the invasion of their territory. These expeditions formed the migratory movement also called “monsoons”, a continuation of the various flags that, in the 16th and 17th centuries, crossed the western territories and crossed the region where the State of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul would be formed. a reflection on the actions of the indigenous in the long migratory process that took place during the conquest and which altered the Brazilian internal landscape. In this historical process the indigenous nations did not have a homogeneous action, they reacted distinctly, in a peaceful or aggressive manner, they exercised power even if they did not have it: even in the condition of being dominated, they developed forces that clashed with the strategies of domination or subtly allied with these forces in search of survival. The indigenous people, even being labeled as martyrs or villains, cannot deny their precious contributions to the conquest of the interior of America and Brazil. These social and cultural contributions brought by different indigenous ethnicities went beyond mere hunting, fishing and artifice techniques. The indigenous left the sertanistas a way of life, a very close relationship with the wild land and a deep communion with that environment. From this coexistence comes a range of inventions and a discernment of the environment that bequeathed to the monçoeiros deductions about the shade of the trees, the flight of the birds, the footprints of an animal, the weather conditions and other skills that seemed miraculous to the European man and were essential for the success of the monsoon expeditions.
