IMUNOLOGIA DOS PEIXES AMAZÔNICOS: O QUANTO CONHECEMOS?
A Imunologia é a ciência que estuda os elementos celulares, moleculares e os mecanismos acionados, nas respostas imunes, frente ao contato com patógenos, ou às substâncias estranhas, ou na manutenção da homeostase do organismo. O estudo da Imunologia dos peixes começou a ser priorizado, principalmente, com o desenvolvimento da aquicultura e a crescente necessidade de se combater as doenças infecciosas que surgiam no ambiente de cultivo. Enquanto os estudos com espécies europeias e asiáticas têm se desenvolvido e mostrado que o sistema imune dos peixes teleósteos apresenta sua complexidade, os estudos sobre os componentes imunes presentes nas espécies amazônicas são muito escassos. Isto se reflete na falta de parâmetros disponíveis para uma avaliação mais refinada sobre a resposta inflamatória, o efeito do uso de imunoestimulantes e outros estudos que se apliquem sobre a imunidade dos peixes. Assim, conhecer os componentes e mecanismos imunes utilizados para debelar os agentes patogênicos, que acometem os peixes nativos criados em cativeiro, auxiliará tanto no diagnóstico como no tratamento dessas infecções e é um amplo campo de pesquisa a ser explorado.

Abstract:
Immunology studies cellular, molecular elements and activated mechanisms, in immune responses, in face of contact with pathogens, or foreign substances, or in the maintenance of the organism's homeostasis. The study of fish immunology received more attention, mainly, with the development of aquaculture and the growing need to combat such infectious diseases that arose in the farming environment. While studies with European and Asian species have increased and showed that immune system of teleost fish is complex, studies on the immune components present in Amazonian species are very scarce. This is evident in the lack of parameters available for a more refined assessment of the inflammatory response, the effect of immunostimulants and other studies that involves fish immunity. Thus, knowing the immune components and mechanisms used to quell pathogenic agents, which affect cultured native fishes, will help both in the diagnosis and in treatment of these diseases and is a wide field of research to be explored.
