Abstract: This study aims to reflect on the relationship between families and the school environment, as well as the implications of family participation in students’ learning processes. The research, qualitative and bibliographic in nature, was based on studies addressing child development, the shared responsibility between schools and families, and the contemporary challenges posed by technology. The analysis revealed that family involvement significantly contributes to children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development by strengthening bonds, fostering a sense of belonging, and supporting the development of socio-emotional skills. Conversely, the absence of family participation in school life may create gaps in the educational process, hindering knowledge mediation and student engagement. Brazilian legislation, through the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the National Education Guidelines and Framework Law (1996), recognizes education as a shared responsibility between the State and the family, encouraging democratic practices and the active participation of parents and guardians in school decision-making processes. The study also discusses the impacts of technology on child development, highlighting both the benefits and the risks associated with the early and unregulated use of digital devices. Conscious mediation between schools and families is essential to ensure a balanced and educational use of technology. It is concluded that the construction of a collaborative environment, grounded in dialogue, active listening, and the appreciation of family knowledge and experiences, is fundamental to promoting a more humanized, inclusive, and developmentally responsive education that meets the comprehensive needs of children.
