Abstract: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols consist of evidence-based perioperative strategies aimed at optimizing postoperative recovery. This study aimed to analyze the impacts of ERAS protocols on the postoperative recovery of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This is an integrative literature review conducted using the PubMed, SciELO, Virtual Health Library, and Cochrane Library databases, employing descriptors related to ERAS protocols and postoperative recovery. Eight studies involving different surgical specialties were selected. The main findings demonstrated reduced hospital length of stay, lower incidence of postoperative complications, earlier functional recovery, and decreased opioid use. In addition, improved intestinal recovery and greater efficiency in perioperative care were observed. It is concluded that ERAS protocols represent a safe and effective strategy for optimizing postoperative recovery and improving surgical outcomes.
