Abstract: Mergers and acquisitions are an indispensable part of global capitalism, with evidence that they have a destructive impact on the organizational climate during their implementation. Layoffs, reallocation of personnel and culture shock can be major causes of deterioration in the organizational climate in merger and acquisition operations. The worsening of the organizational climate can cause problems for the entire company. Regarding culture shock, approaches to mitigate damage to the organizational climate may be viable. The study aimed to describe the dynamics of the relationship between culture shock and organizational climate in companies undergoing merger and acquisition processes. It was an exploratory bibliographic research. The specific bibliography on the subject is scarce. The results indicated that the relationship between culture shock and organizational climate must exist and is relevant in mergers and acquisitions, proposing a taxonomy of emotional states as a way to better understand climate variations and their causes. Certain emotional states seem to be repeated in mergers and acquisitions, but it was not possible to determine their level of recurrence and frequency. The study of emotional perceptions linked to the organizational climate in its evolution in the time frame of mergers and acquisitions proved to be promising, characterizing its temporal distribution according to the proposed taxonomy of emotional states. Indications were found that damage to the elements of culture cause a worsening of the organizational climate; it was not possible to determine the proportion or quantification of this correlation, or its qualitative relationship. It is recommended to continue the research effort on this topic.
