Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To describe the epidemiological characteristics and laboratory findings of cases diagnosed with human sporotrichosis and LT, seen at a reference hospital in Pernambuco. METHODS: Descriptive research, having as target audience the records of patients with sporotrichosis or LT, in the period from January 2019 to December 2020. RESULTS: 139 patients with sporotrichosis and 22 with LT were included. In sporotrichosis there was 58.3% of female involvement, in LT there was a homogeneous distribution, in the proportion of 1:1. About the diagnostic methods, in sporotrichosis there was positivity of the culture (84.5%), mycological exam (28.0%) and histopathology (9.5%). In LT there was 90.9% positivity in PCR, three patients underwent parasitological examination, two of whom were positive (66.7%) and histopathology revealed compatibility in 27.3% of cases. CONCLUSION: The similarity of the lesions usually imposes great challenges. Thus, the combination of the specialist physician and the availability of complementary laboratory methodologies are mandatory for a credible diagnosis.
