IMPACTO DO DIAGNÓSTICO DO CÂNCER INFANTIL NA FAMÍLIA: ASPECTOS SOCIAIS

Trata-se de um estudo prospectivo

transversal, que tem como objetivo identificar

os principais impactos biopsicossociais do

diagnóstico do câncer infantil na família cuidadora.

A pesquisa foi desenvolvida no Hospital

Regional Rosa Pedrossian, especificamente

no CETOHI (Centro de Tratamento OncoHematológico Infantil), localizado em Campo

Grande, MS, Brasil, através de um estudo

transversal prospectivo, mediante a técnica de

observação direta extensiva com a aplicação

de um questionário, o Pediatric Inventory for

Parents – PIP, com 30 famílias selecionadas

pela amostragem não probabilística do tipo

intencional. Espera-se encontrar um grande

prejuízo à qualidade de vida dessas famílias,

tendo como repercussões negativas mudanças

bruscas na rotina do cotidiano, consequências

à saúde física e, principalmente, psicológica,

dificuldades financeiras e alterações no

relacionamento familiar e social. A importância

desses resultados permitirão propor soluções

que possibilitem amenizar tais impactos.

  • Abstract:

    Towards the increasing incidence

of children neoplasms, this research had the

    intention to investigate the biopsychosocial

    impacts among families experiencing cancer

detection as well its evolution. To achieve this,

were addressed questions regarding how the diagnosis of the illness is given, which were the family´s major expectations towards the

information and the most common reactions between the caregivers during the cancer

treatment. Therefore was developed a prospective study of transversal character with

30 families, in addition, from this non representative and randomly distributed sample

of people with whom was applied the Pediatric Inventory for Parents – PIP (Brazilian

version Inventário Pediátrico para Familiares – IPF), were discovered that most of

the time those parents picture the worst consequences that this disease could bring,

filling themselves with anxiety, anguish plus physical and mental stress, considered

all risk factors for organic also psychological pathologies. Furthermore, the economic

consequences were quite relevant, by means of the appliance of the sociodemographic

characterization quiz, was verified that 80% of the interviewees had to abandon their

jobs to fully dedicate of taking care of their children, leaving behind their social and

recreation activities as well. Thereby, the cancer diagnosis causes a negative impact

to the family and mainly to the caregiver, however to help with that, it’s essential an

unabridged assistance from a multidisciplinary health team, since the way that the

family faces the illness directly induces in how the child´s treatment will advance.
