IMPACTO DE INTERVENÇÕES DE ESTILO DE VIDA NA SAÚDE CARDIOMETABÓLICA E MENTAL DE CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES COM OBESIDADE

Childhood and adolescent obesity represents a major public health challenge, being associated with early cardiometabolic alterations and impaired mental health. This study aimed to analyze the impact of lifestyle interventions on metabolic and psychological outcomes in pediatric populations with obesity. Clinical and observational studies evaluating dietary modification, physical activity, and behavioral interventions were included. The findings indicate that combined approaches significantly improve body composition, insulin sensitivity, and inflammatory markers, as well as mental health outcomes, including reduced depressive symptoms and improved quality of life. Exercise-based interventions, particularly structured and high-intensity programs, demonstrated consistent benefits, while nutritional strategies contributed to metabolic regulation. Overall, multidisciplinary lifestyle interventions play a crucial role in the management of pediatric obesity, highlighting the importance of early, integrated, and individualized approaches to improve both physical and psychological health outcomes in children and adolescents.

  • Abstract: Adolescent obesity represents a major global public health challenge, being associated with significant metabolic alterations and an increased risk of chronic diseases in adulthood. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dietary interventions, exercise programs, and metabolic therapies in the treatment of adolescent obesity based on recent clinical trials. This is a systematic review conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, with searches performed in PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO databases, including studies published between 2015 and 2025. Clinical trials involving individuals aged 10 to 19 years and assessing anthropometric, metabolic, and clinical outcomes were included. The findings showed that modern dietary strategies, such as intermittent energy restriction and low glycemic index diets, significantly improved body weight and metabolic control. Exercise interventions, particularly high-intensity interval training, demonstrated positive effects on body composition as well as cardiovascular and mental health. Metabolic therapies, including probiotics, butyrate, and metformin, showed variable benefits, while bariatric surgery proved effective in severe cases. In conclusion, integrated and individualized approaches appear to be the most effective strategies for managing adolescent obesity.
