Abstract: Introduction: Ultrasound has been increasingly incorporated into regional anesthesia, allowing real-time anatomical visualization during peripheral nerve block procedures. This technology improves procedural accuracy and may reduce complications associated with traditional landmark-based techniques. Objective: To analyze scientific evidence regarding the impact of real-time anatomical visualization on outcomes in regional anesthesia. Methods: This study consists of a structured narrative review conducted using PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, and LILACS databases. Studies published between 2020 and 2025 involving ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks were included. Results: The analyzed studies demonstrated that ultrasound guidance improves procedural precision, enhances analgesic quality, and reduces perioperative opioid consumption. Real-time visualization also contributes to increased safety and reduced complication rates. Conclusion: Ultrasound represents a significant advancement in regional anesthesia, enabling more precise, effective, and safer nerve block procedures. Further studies are needed to standardize techniques and evaluate long-term outcomes.
