IDENTIFICAÇÃO DAS FAMÍLIAS DE COLEÓPTEROS DEPOSITADOS NAS COLEÇÕES ENTOMOLÓGICAS DA UNIVERSIDADE DO ESTADO DA BAHIA, CAMPUS IX
Os acervos das coleções
entomológicas podem representar um
excelente banco de dados, cuja intenção é
manter representantes da biodiversidade.
Assim, o presente estudo teve como propósito
identificar, ao nível taxonômico de Família, os
espécimes da ordem Coleoptera depositados
nas Coleções Entomológicas da Universidade
do Estado da Bahia – UNEB, Campus IX. A
pesquisa foi desenvolvida no laboratório de
Zoologia e Entomologia-LaZooEn, da UNEB.
Para a realização da pesquisa, foi necessária
a análise das referidas coleções. O estudo foi
desenvolvido no período de dezembro de 2015
a fevereiro de 2016 com auxílio de chaves
dicotômicas e de um estereomicroscópio
binocular. O presente estudo apresentou uma
abundância de 363 exemplares distribuídos
em 16 famílias da ordem Coleoptera. A família
Scarabaeidae foi a mais bem representada, com
41,6%. Esse dado pode ter como consequência
a preferência da área de coleta de insetos pelos
acadêmicos, que se concentra na Serra do
Mimo, área verde situada no interior da UNEB.
A família Cerambycidae foi a segunda mais
bem representada (27,3%), seguida da família
Carabidae (10%). Uma possível explicação é a
facilidade de coleta dessas famílias, pois esses
besouros possuem características notáveis. As
famílias menos representativas foram Bruchidae
e Alleculidae (0,3%). Tal resultado pode ser
decorrente a essas famílias apresentarem
indivíduos de pequeno porte.

Abstract:
The entomological collections
can represent an excellent database, whose
intention is to maintain representatives of
biodiversity. Thus, the present study aimed
to identify, at the family taxonomic level,
Coleoptera order specimens deposited in the
Entomological Collections of the State University
of Bahia - UNEB, Campus IX. The research was
developed in the laboratory of Zoology and Entomology-LaZooEn, UNEB. In order to
carry out the research, it was necessary to analyze the said collections. The study was
developed from December 2015 to February 2016 with the help of dichotomous keys
and a binocular stereomicroscope. The present study showed an abundance of 363
specimens distributed in 16 families of the Coleoptera order. Scarabaeidae family was
the best represented, with 41.6%. This data can have as consequence the preference
of the area of collection of insects by the scholars, which is concentrated in the Mimo
Sierra, a green area located inside UNEB. Cerambycidae family was the second
most well represented (27.3%), followed by Carabidae family (10%). One possible
explanation is the ease for collecting these families, as these beetles have remarkable
characteristics. The least representative families were Bruchidae and Alleculidae
(0.3%). This result may be due to these families presenting small individuals.
