Abstract: Introduction: Radiotherapy is a treatment modality that uses ionizing radiation to eliminate or reduce the growth of tumor cells. Due to the specificities of this therapeutic plan, the patient needs to remain alone in the rooms during treatment, and may experience feelings of fear, anxiety, anguish and loneliness. Alternative therapies are psychosocial therapeutic strategies that can positively complement conventional therapies. Knowing the therapies consolidated in other services is essential to adapt and implement them in professional practices. Objective: Identify evidence in the literature about alternative therapies that can humanize the care of patients and families undergoing radiotherapy treatment. Method: This is an integrative review of the literature, searching databases from January to March 2022. National studies were included, published in the last 10 years, which demonstrate the use of alternative therapies in outpatient or hospital services. The final sample consisted of 4 articles. Results: The main alternative therapies used by the studies were music therapy, chromotherapy and art therapy. Music therapy consists of providing ambient sound, with a playlist according to the patient's taste. Chromotherapy was described using an LED lamp, with remote control, which changes the colors of the environment, which can generate a feeling of well-being. Art therapy includes stimulation of literary production, composed of texts, phrases, words, poems or drawings and paintings produced by patients. With the purpose of displaying on murals for the contemplation and inspiration of future patients and the hospital community. These therapies can alleviate symptoms such as anxiety, depression and pain, developing greater self-confidence, self-care and relaxation, strengthening hope and relationships between professional and patient. Alternative therapies are described in the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) and, therefore, are interventions that can favor the construction of a humanized environment in health care. Final considerations: It is identified that there are still few studies aimed at alternative therapies in the hospital environment, making it necessary to stimulate more discussions and research on the topic. This review made it possible to identify strategies that can increase humanization and qualify assistance in the sector, being plausible for implementation.
