Abstract: Objective: To map the profile and issues addressed in systematic reviews that include hospitalization of children (<18 years) due to COVID-19 and its clinical repercussions. Inclusion criteria: Systematic reviews including hospitalization data in children (<18 years) with COVID-19 will be included. Exclusion criteria: Review studies, comments, opinions, and studies that include both adult and pediatric populations without separate data will be excluded. Study search strategy: A search was conducted in PUBMED and BVS databases to identify potentially relevant studies using the following strategy: a combination of the following descriptors: "COVID-19" AND child AND hospitalization. No date or language restrictions. Results: Twenty-one articles were selected, of which seven describe clinical and laboratory characteristics, treatment, the need for ICU admission, and outcomes of SIM-P associated with SARS-CoV-2. Another five articles summarize current evidence on the clinical presentation of COVID-19 in hospitalized children, two studies quantify the impact of COVID-19 on gastrointestinal manifestations, and seven other studies address various topics related to the studied population. Final considerations: New studies addressing the long-term effects of the disease, as well as research on the treatment and management of children with severe to critical presentations of the disease, are needed.
