Hospital Colônia: Uma História de Crueldade frente a Omissão de Uma Sociedade
Este artigo tem por objetivo explanar
os horrores vivenciados pelos pacientes do
Hospital Psiquiátrico de Barbacena, também
conhecido como Hospital Colônia, que por anos
cometeu crimes contra os direitos humanos
e fundamentais dos pacientes que viviam em
suas instalações, relacionando tais crimes com
a legislação vigente no Brasil, juntamente com
declarações e convenções ratificados pelo
mesmo. Objetiva, assim, analisar a violação de
direitos humanos à luz da legislação atual, visto
que à época ainda não existia o Organismo
Internacional das Nações Unidas que buscasse
garantir, universalmente, direitos humanos.
Assim, problematiza, à luz dos direitos
humanos atuais, a violação da dignidade
humana. Considerado pela jornalista Daniela
Arbex como o Holocausto Brasileiro, o Colônia
foi comparado em diversos depoimentos com
os campos de concentração nazista. Dessa
forma, pode-se encontrar neste artigo, uma
comparação dos escritos de Arendt e Bauman
com a situação do Hospital. Trata-se de um
estudo de caso realizado por meio do método
dedutivo, com orientação da Doutora e Mestre
em Direito Leilane Serrattine Grubba.

Abstract:
This article aims to explain the
horrors experienced by the patients of the
Barbacena Psychiatric Hospital, also known
as Hospital Colônia, who for years committed
crimes against human and fundamental rights
of the patients who lived in its facilities, relating
such crimes with the legislation in force in
the Brazil, together with declarations and
conventions ratified by it. It aims, therefore, to
analyze the violation of human rights in light of
the current legislation, since at that time there
was not yet an International Organization of
the United Nations that sought to universally
guarantee human rights. Thus, in the light of
current human rights, he problematizes the
violation of human dignity. Considered by
the journalist Daniela Arbex as the Brazilian
Holocaust, the Colony was compared in several
testimonies with the Nazi concentration camps.
Thus, we can find in this article a comparison
of the writings of Arendt and Bauman with the
situation of the Hospital. This is a case study
carried out using the deductive method, with
guidance from the Doctor and Master in Law
Leilane Serratine Grubba.
