Abstract: The article "History of literacy: The Professora Floripes Sodré School Group in Jequié - BA - 1970 to 2003" presents a study in the development stage that seeks to trace the history of the Professora Floripes Sodré School Group, located in Jequié, Bahia. Founded in 1970 and authorized as a school group in 1976, the school began to offer other grades of Elementary Education only in 2003, when it ceased to be a school group. The main objective of the research is to analyze the reasons for this late creation in the interior of Bahia, since LDB 5692/71 signaled the extinction of school groups throughout Brazilian territory. Other questions arose during the study, who was Professor Floripes Sodré, who was honored by authorizing the school group to receive her name. The methodology of this research is qualitative and is based on bibliographical and documentary research, as well as Oral History, which in turn proved to be the main methodology, in which we were able to interview 7 narrators in the city of Jequié/BA, who brought experiences and unique experiences for this study, and consequently for the construction of the dissertation. It is hoped that the results can contribute not only to the historiography of school groups in Brazil, but above all to local history.
