HÉRNIA INGUINAL EM LÊMURE-DE-CAUDA-ANELADA (Lemur catta): RELATO DE CASO
O lêmure-de-cauda-anelada (Lemur catta) é uma das espécies de lêmure mais mantidas sob cuidados humanos e está classificada pela IUCN como em risco de extinção devido à perda de habitat e à caça. As hérnias podem ocorrer na região umbilical, inguinal ou escrotal. As hérnias inguinais são deslocamentos de tecidos ou órgãos através do canal inguinal, ocorrendo com maior frequência de forma unilateral. A hérnia inguinal é menos frequente que as demais, e é decorrente de um defeito no anel inguinal. O diagnóstico é obtido através da palpação e a confirmação ocorre através da redução manual da hérnia e detecção do canal inguinal. O tratamento indicado é a correção cirúrgica. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar o primeiro caso de um indivíduo de Lemur catta diagnosticado com hérnia inguinal unilateral e o consequente tratamento cirúrgico.

Abstract:
The ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) is one of the lemur species most kept under human care, and is classified as endangered by the IUCN due to habitat loss and hunting. The hernias may occur in the umbilical, inguinal and scrotal regions. The inguinal hernias are displacements of tissues and organs through the inguinal canal and often occur unilaterally. The inguinal hernias are less common then the others and are due to a defect in the inguinal ring. The diagnosis is through palpation and confirmation is through the manual reduction of the hernia to the inguinal canal and detection of hernial ring. The indicated treatment is surgical correction. The present article reports the first case of a Lemur catta kept under human care diagnosed with unilateral inguinal hernia and its surgical treatment.
