Abstract: This research aims to determine how communication skills are related to the dimensional burnout syndrome in caregivers of the elderly in a nursing home. The study has a quantitative correlational approach the non-experimental cross- sectional design, with a sample of 30 healthcare caregivers from six professional specialties. Data were collected using the scale of communication skills in healthcare professionals, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and a sociodemographic survey. The results show that regarding the dimensional structure of burnout, 26.7% of the total population experience high levels of emotional exhaustion, 30% experience high levels of depersonalization, and 16.7% exhibit low levels of personal accomplishment. As for communication skills, 53.3% demonstrate informative communication, 43.3% exhibit empathy, and 46.7% show respect as well as social skills. In conclusion, there is sufficient statistical evidence to support the research hypothesis. Through the Spearman's Rho correlation, a statistically significant negative correlation was found between the variables: communication skill empathy and emotional exhaustion, depersonalization; communication skill respect and emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and total burnout scores.
