Abstract: By exploring the human condition and critiquing the system, Dag Solstad achieves literary innovation and, through experimental narratives, promotes reflections on social alienation and the commodification of life, highlighting existential and ethical dilemmas in characters such as Elias Rukla and Pål Andersen. The methodological approach consists of a qualitative literary analysis of the works "Modesty and Dignity" (2009) and "The Night of Professor Andersen" (2018), combining critical interpretations and comparison with the dramaturgy of Henrik Ibsen. The study examines character construction, the use of irony as a plot device, the exploration of the absurd, and narrative experimentation as strategies of verisimilitude and social critique, also observing influences and similarities with authors such as Franz Kafka, Witold Gombrowicz, and Knut Hamsun. Venturing into ethical, existential, and social dilemmas confronts the superficiality of modern life and the market's control over human relationships. Literature functions as an instrument of critical reflection and cultural resistance, raising questions about dominant structures.
