GRUPO DE ESTUDOS E INTERVENÇÕES SOCIOAMBIENTAIS ENQUANTO PRÁTICA EDUCATIVA PARA A ENGENHARIA AMBIENTAL: CICLOS QUE SE RETROALIMENTAM
Compreendendo a extensão
universitária como um instrumento que busca
dialogar com a realidade, aproximando a
universidade pública do cumprimento de sua
função social, o propósito deste trabalho é
investigar o papel da extensão enquanto
prática educativa acadêmica. Para isso, foi
feito um estudo de caso do Grupo de Estudos e
Intervenções Socioambientais (GEISA), atuante
na cidade de São Carlos, interior do estado de
São Paulo, no âmbito do curso de Engenharia
Ambiental da Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
A partir de um resgate histórico, buscou-se
compreender as distintas formas de atuação do
grupo, seus objetivos e como foi criado. Além
disso, foram coletados relatos de membros
atuais e egressos do grupo a fim de investigar
qual influência o GEISA teve na sua formação
estudantil e profissional. Constatou-se que a
influência do grupo reflete no amadurecimento
pessoal e profissional, politização do debate
acerca da questão ambiental e estímulo à
atuação para a transformação social.

Abstract:
Understanding university
extension as an instrument that seeks to
dialogue with reality, bringing the public
university closer to fulfilling its social function,
the purpose of this work is to investigate the
role of extension as an academic educational
practice. A study of the Socio-environmental
Studies and Interventions Group was carried
out in the city of São Carlos, in the state of São
Paulo, in the Environmental Engineering course
of the University of São Paulo (USP). From a
historical rescue, it was seek to understand the
different forms of performance of the group, its
objectives and how it was created. In addition,
reports were collected from current and former
members of the group in order to investigate
what influence the group had in its student and
professional training. It was verified that the
influence of the group reflects in the personal
and professional maturation, politicization of the
debate about the environmental question and
stimulus to the action for the social transformation.
