Abstract: This research has the purpose of analyzing different scenarios in which Mexican MSMEs must pay attention, as well as the level of change management and leadership required, based on the data collected in companies that came out ahead in the most difficult stage of the pandemic due to Covid-19 (2020-2021). The research question was considered: What was the level of adaptability of MSMEs in Mexico and what aspects did they consider to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic? The research approach is mixed, quantitative and qualitative techniques were applied to contextualize the phenomenon under study. The sample was calculated taking into account a population of 1,873,564 MSMEs, which on average were the ones that survived each year, according to data from the INEGI website, with a margin of error of 10% and a 95% confidence level. The number of 97 companies was obtained, but it was possible to survey 128 companies. The questionnaire included 105 questions divided into four dimensions: a) leadership for change, b) organizational culture, c) continuous improvement and d) capacities and resources for change, which allows identifying the state of maturity in which companies are with respect to to organizational change management: basic, initiated, amateur or professional. Those companies that managed to survive used change management as a leadership factor, developed a high level of resilience to failure, included sponsors in their projects, and placed great emphasis on communication and training in scenarios of horizontal evolution.
