Abstract: This study analyzes the Public Urban Solid Waste Policy (PPGRSU) of the municipality of Porto Velho-RO (Brazil) and its relationship with the attractive areas of fauna around the Porto Velho International Airport (AIPV), contextualizing it with current legislation and data quantitative fauna. The research, conducted through documentary analysis of legislation and the Avian Risk Management System (Sigra), reveals that inadequate management of urban solid waste generates attractive foci of fauna, mainly birds, around the AIPV, putting the airport security. The analysis highlights PPGRSU's lack of compliance with federal legislation, such as the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS). In view of this, it is suggested to review and update the PPGRSU, implement effective measures for solid waste management and re-evaluate the location of the AIPV, considering the risks to airport security and the need for environmental protection. The research contributes to understanding the relationship between MSW management and airport security, providing support for the implementation of fauna control measures around the AIPV and for the review of the PPGRSU of Porto Velho-RO.
