Abstract: Emergency and disaster management requires an integrated approach that takes into account not only the physical health needs, but also the psychological needs of the affected populations. This field involves multiple challenges, such as coordination between different sectors, resource management, and rapid and effective decision-making in crisis scenarios. Collaboration between professionals from different areas, such as psychology and nursing, is essential for the success of interventions. The mental health of victims and professionals involved has gained greater relevance in management practices, with the implementation of psychological support actions that contribute to the emotional recovery of those affected. In addition, the ethical and legal dilemmas that arise in these contexts, such as the scarcity of resources and the allocation of care, require constant reflection on professional practice and decision-making, which must be made in a fair and considered manner. The use of emerging technologies, such as social mapping, has shown great potential in disaster management, as it enables the collection and analysis of essential data for a more precise and coordinated response, ensuring that actions are directed to the areas of greatest need. In the face of these challenges, emergency management has evolved, with significant advances in improving response and recovery strategies, the appreciation of mental health and the integration of new technologies, which enables more effective and humanized action in extreme situations.
