• Abstract: The importance of studying how public management, specifically in the municipality of Tangará da Serra, exercises its governance, how it has been acting, planning, managing water and social participation/interaction in this management process is in line with the general concern about the issue of the water crisis, with the guarantee of water security intended and defended as a constitutional right, as this management reflects on the urban water supply of the Tangaraense population. Good management is carried out when society's demand is met, when the collection, the grant for the use of water, the observance of participatory management and that reaches the entire city in an effective and efficient way through access to treated water. and at the service of sanitary sewage, which meets the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 6. Management only becomes effective and efficient when it is carried out in a participatory way, listening to society's desires and allowing its involvement in the management process of the resource. Through a bibliographic review, it is noted that the challenges will be many to obtain an effective and efficient management of water, but this management becomes easier if there is the involvement, integration and interaction of society in the management process, because listening to it If the desires are met, using appropriate study techniques and transforming consumers into transforming agents, managers, it is possible to achieve efficiency in serving, using and recharging the source of water resources without overloading the water system.
