Abstract: Reverse logistics has gained relevance in the current context by promoting the reuse of solid waste and contributing to sustainability in companies. This study presents a case study on the application of reverse logistics in the cheese production chain of a small dairy enterprise located in Governador Newton Bello, Maranhão. The research sought to answer the following question: what benefits can the adoption of reverse logistics bring to a cheese-producing company in the Alto Turí region? The general objective was to demonstrate the importance of reverse logistics in this production process. The specific objectives included mapping the cheese production flow, identifying waste, and assessing the benefits of reverse practices. The methodology involved a literature review, questionnaire application, and field observation, characterizing the study as qualitative and designed as a single case study. The main findings included the mapping of the production stages of “coalho” and butter cheese, and the reuse of whey for pig feeding. The systematic adoption of reverse logistics may generate economic, social, and environmental gains, enhancing the company’s competitiveness.
